Good day,
I thought I would touch base with everyone today. It has been a wild ride in the weather department with more crap on the way. We hope that you have been able to get a chunk of what you have left off in these few good days. Brandon MB was lucky enough to have had the wettest (265 mm) September in a long time and it is a problem experienced by most of the prairies. Many locations are leaving the trucks on the road and bringing the grain to them. Not a great way to do it. Western AB has just got rid of the last 2 feet of snow and are getting more this week. We are seeing most crops that are in the field being down graded with sprouting in wheat, barley, and canola showing up. Unfortunately, the buyers know there is lots of feed barley and wheat out there. This is reflecting in the prices we have been seeing. Feed wheat in Eastern SK at $4.50 with barley $3.25 to $3.50. We do get some short-term selling opportunities for a bit higher price. AB feedlots are feeling the pinch this week as AB producers can’t harvest some of their crops. We are also seeing better prices for feed wheat in MB as trucks from SK are very hard to find at this time. So, if you have feed quality wheat or barley in the bin in any location let us know so we can help you capitalize on these prices. They will likely be short lived. We are looking for: 1000 MT Feed wheat in MB. (traded $5.80 picked up NW of Brandon last week) 500 MT of feed barley for delivery to feed mills in MB $3.85 del Killarney this week. 125 MT of feed green peas in SW MB or SE SK. End of Oct movement Good quality rye in Southern AB 125 MT of spring trit in any location. Both feed barley and feed wheat in AB for the feedlot market. Up $5-$7/MT from lows. We have good bids on Metcalf, Copeland, Synergy and Bow barley. Malt quality, subject to sample, competitive bids picked up. We could use 5000 Mt of any variety. We always have markets for heated and green canola. Have a safe harvest. Call us to help with your price checking.
